1970s
Originally...
NICOCYL GmbH was founded from NICO-Metall GmbH in Dortmund, a subsidiary of Preussag Salzgitter AG (now TUI), which at the time was a major player in the field of cable dismantling and plastic production with an annual turnover of around 65 million DM. Park benches, soundproof walls and support rods were initially produced here. From 1976 onwards, PVC floor coverings developed in cooperation with the TH Aachen-Jülich were manufactured.
As a result of the restructuring of the parent company, Nico-Metall GmbH went bankrupt in 2002.
1999
Foundation of NICOCYL GmbH
Even before Nico-Metall went bankrupt in 1999, the then Nico-Metall authorized officer Jakob Fröhlich and two other investors had already taken over the PVC cable recycling business as part of an MBO. In this context, NICOCYL GmbH was founded.
The founders had committed themselves to the demanding field of industrial flooring and wanted to set new standards in functionality and quality with the high-quality NICOCYL® industrial flooring, combining longevity and sustainability.
2004
Moving...
Jakob Fröhlich was the first managing director and headed the then independent company for almost 25 years.
Initially still in Dortmund, in 2004 – two years after the insolvency of NICO-Metall – the company moved with its machines and employees to Castrop Rauxel, today's green European city in the Ruhr area, between Bochum and Dortmund.
2007-2009
Investments, innovation, patents…
A strong will and the conviction that we can meet the needs of our customers continue to characterize our company to this day.
In the following years, we invested in expanding our infrastructure, including the addition of a warehouse in 2007 and the acquisition of additional storage space. In 2008, we purchased a CNC machining center. Extensive renovations accompanied the further optimization of our production processes.
The peak of our innovative power manifested itself in 2009/2010, when we were granted a patent by the European Patent Office for three construction variants of our industrial floors:
for the NICO fold, NICO clip plus and NICO double fold.
We can rightly claim to be the company with the original recycled flooring.
2010
IBOFORM GmbH & other sales partners
Sales were reorganized in 2010.
The sales company Iboform GmbH was founded in Germany.
At Iboform GmbH, we are more than just a reliable provider of high-quality and sustainable industrial floors. We also take care of your entire project, from consultation to final installation, whether in a new building or in the course of a necessary renovation.
And we also do this in Europe in collaboration with our partners in Benelux, Austria and Switzerland.
2023
Where innovation meets tradition.
With the company takeover by the new investor Hermann de Jong in 2023, the success story of NICOCYL floors will continue.

We are looking for you as soon as possible for the following areas in metal/plastics technology. We offer a good working atmosphere and attractive pay.
Machine operator (m/f/d)
Overview: Full-time – immediately – permanent – shift/night/weekend
We are a company in the plastics industry and produce industrial flooring from recycled PVC in Castrop-Rauxel.
We are currently looking for permanent machine operators/assistants for our production in full-time (40 hours/week/3 shifts).
The current work location is in Castrop-Rauxel
You are responsible for:
- the smooth and optimized production process of the machines
- Control of the goods produced
- Color change in production
- Fixing minor faults on the machines.
You should be able to work flexibly, responsibly and to a high degree independently.
Furthermore, it would be an advantage if you have a forklift license.
